Disclose every current position
Provide the provider name, original funded amount, current balance, payment amount and frequency, start date, and expected completion date. Bank statements often show recurring debits, so incomplete disclosure can delay the file or undermine confidence in the application.
A current payoff letter or balance statement may be requested. If a provider has filed a UCC financing statement, disclose that as well; a UCC filing is a public notice and does not by itself show the current payoff balance.
Payment burden is usually the key issue
Underwriters may compare total existing and proposed payments with revenue, average balances, and operating expenses. Even strong sales can be strained by multiple frequent withdrawals. The question is not only whether another position is technically available, but whether the combined structure is workable.
Recent stacking—taking multiple advances in a short period—can be viewed as a warning sign. Some agreements also restrict additional financing or require consent.
Refinance, consolidation, and new-money requests are different
A new position adds capital and another obligation. A refinance or consolidation may use proceeds to pay off one or more existing positions, potentially changing payment frequency or total cash-flow burden. These outcomes should not be assumed to reduce cost; compare the new total obligation with the balances being retired.
Confirm which payoffs are mandatory, whether funds go directly to prior providers, and the net new cash the business will actually receive.
Know when waiting may be better
If the current position is near completion, waiting can improve the cash-flow profile and may create better options. If the business is already struggling to meet scheduled payments, adding debt-like obligations may worsen the problem. A candid review of the use of funds and expected return is essential.
Availability depends on provider policy, contract restrictions, lien position, business performance, and other underwriting factors. No outcome is guaranteed.
